Partnership Summit on Family & Community Engagement

Karen MappFeaturing Karen Mapp, Ed.D, Harvard University

On March 24 2009, the Parent Education Network hosted Karen Mapp, one of the nation's leading research experts on family engagement, for the 2009 Wyoming Partnership Summit. To kick off the event, Governor Dave Fruedenthal welcomed the event at the Summit Reception the night before. Then Karen Mapp presented on “Why Family, School and Community Partnerships."

The objective of the summit was to to bring together teams of school leaders of parents, Title 1 staff, principals, and educators to discuss and develop action plans to take back to their districts and schools to increase family engagement in linking to learning for increased student achievement.

What is PHP of Wyoming, Inc.?

Parents Helping Parents of Wyoming, Inc is a private, non-profit organization founded in 1990. Governed by a board of directors, the majority who are parents or family members of children with disabilities, PHP 's mission is to provide a means of communication, cooperation, and education to parents and professionals who wish to serve and support children with and without disabilities. We aim to help families become more active in their children's learning and education, and obtain better programs and services through education, support, and referral.
