Increased Engagement
Different types of assistance PEN offers:
- Technical Assistance: PEN staff will offer hands-on assistance to schools to customize a plan for parent engagement. School leaders decide the level of intensity each school and families are ready for. We bring the framework and help schools get it started!
- Family-School Partnership Contracts: PEN targets Title 1 schools, or those not having made Adequate Yearly Progress, by offering contracts to local parent-teacher groups (PTAs/PTOs). These contracts help parent-teacher groups plan, coordinate and facilitate activities in their own schools that actively engage parents in linking school work and learning at home.
- Outreach Parent Liaison: PEN has staff in 6 different regions across the state to support and assist schools and families. Called Outreach Parent Liaisons, their purpose is to provide a parent perspective and local voice to school teams, family groups and community resources, and to help build partnerships that bridge all together.
